Conjuring memories of halcyon days of vintage ice cream parlors, CCL’s new culinary concept, The Sweet Shop, comes to life with ColdSnap’s luxuriously creamy frozen treats.
We spoke with CCL’s Director of Marketing, Derek Sullivan, to learn how ColdSnap upgrades the resident experience. Read on for the Q & A!
Ferreira: What does CCL’s partnership with ColdSnap look like?
Sullivan: CCL Hospitality Group collaborates with a range of strategic partners to enhance our communities. ColdSnap is one of our key culinary tech partners. As the first senior living group to offer ColdSnap, the decadent, on-demand treats help us elevate resident experiences.
Ferreira: What makes ColdSnap a great solution for senior living?
Sullivan: Seniors love ice cream, and it’s consistently one of the most popular items in our communities. ColdSnap’s flavors and quality not only bring excitement to residents but also deliver a memorable experience.
The variety of products ColdSnap offers aligns with the continuum of care in our communities, making it suitable for residents at any stage of life. In addition to the fun flavors, ColdSnap’s protein shakes and smoothies provide important health benefits, with up to 12 grams of protein and dairy-free options. The product can also be easily thickened for residents with dysphagia.
Ferreira: What are the most popular ColdSnap treats for seniors?
Sullivan: Classic flavors like chocolate, vanilla, and salted caramel are the most popular. Residents have even said ColdSnap tastes like the best soft-serve they’ve ever had. The boozy flavors are also a big hit during resident happy hours!
Ferreira: What feedback have you received about ColdSnap from your community?
Sullivan: Front-of-house staff love how easy the ColdSnap machines are to operate, and they appreciate the fact that there’s no cleanup involved.

Sullivan: We plan to introduce ColdSnap to all of our communities nationwide and provide support to front-of-house staff for seamless operations.
In addition, CCL is partnering with ColdSnap to launch The Sweet Shop, a new culinary concept that combines ColdSnap’s technology with a vintage ice cream parlor experience.
